Walk With Me Day# 87

If you wish to know the divine, feel the wind on your face and the warm sun on your hand.

This post is second in series of our Glenn Penitentiary Reservation Visit. It has over 8 miles of hiking trails with 800 acres+ of green joys waving back at you, with each step you take, you are nearer to fresh breath that you crave in usual humdrum of city’s life.

These snaps are from the Nature’s Center, a great way to learn, discover & marvel in the information that we all usually let pass under the pretext of “not-so-interesting”. Our kids loved the sounds & sights of wildlife at the Interactive Nature Calls exhibits.

I was smitten with the eyes of Coyote 😀 so took one more shot of its eyes close-up. Such a savvy beast! They are members of Dog family & they will eat anything to survive from rabbit to grass to deer to rodents. Coyote can run up to 40 miles an hour. In the fall and winter, they form packs<family packs> for more effective hunting. They are often called as prairie wolves or brush wolves owing to their smaller size than a wolf. Coyote’s intelligence & ability to adapt to any environment has made it a master of survival. At one of our Metro Parks Reservations, we have a Coyote path, where sightings of Coyote is recorded and that Hiking pathway comes with a warning(Do & Don’t when they greet you) mandated by the Metro Parks authority.

About the Black Bear, one of the interesting fact is about the color phrases that range from black, chocolate brown, cinnamon brown, blue-black, and white.  The White-tailed Deer, is Ohio’s largest mammal and a common sight in many neighborhoods. The size of a deer’s rack of antlers is not determined by age, but by diet. If a deer has plenty of food & water, the rack will be large with many points/tines(at least 1” in length). Fascinating! isn’t it?

We had a chance to explore live beehives & bee culture.

Next in the same series, I would be sharing information about Rain Gardens & Recycling wonders. Thanks for “Walking” with me today.
